Making promises that it cant always keep. it was one day, not always that way and feels unloved due to it. What if the pup had a mental illness, would the author still treat the pup the same way? It made me sad that first the gaslighting, then the pup not feeling good enough because they had a frisky day. "And he promised himself that he would try not to be naughty ever again" The title says "naughty day" we all have off days. A kid could get the idea to feed chocolate to dogs unknown to the parents due to this book. Was published in the 80's atleast.Ĭhocolate is poisonous to dogs but they are eating chocolate cake. Kids often reread what parents have read. ok for a parent to read but the kids would have a hard time saying them. How come the other dogs could get dirty but it seemed like a huge thing for that one pup? The grandmother seemed way more patient with the pup than the mother did. Kids don't understand and young puppies wouldn't either. "Perhapd that will make you feel less frisky" is pretty toxic too. Does the author do that to children too? The whole "better off not hearing" the kids. Instead of understanding why the puppy felt the way it felt. The puppy explains feeling frisky and is met with the naughty step where it then watches his brothers and sisters playing outside. "What is wrong with you today" basically gaslighting the puppy. On a healing journey and this book made me sad.
